Quality vs. Quantity



With great difficulty for the last 15 days i was growing my nails expecting the french open finals to be nail biting finish with Nadal and Federer show down. Everything happened as i was expecting like my Nail was growing at good pace and in the finals Nadal and federer showdown except it was one sided match with Nadal won and i have to search for the nail cutter to cutdown to its original size.



In the break i was surfing the channel and saw Aamir Khans Monaco New advertisement followed by Sharukh Khans Sunfeast advt. after some time. I was wondering whether they both fight for the box office only in the movies are through advertisement also. My interest turned away from the match and swayed towards analyzing the advertisement competition between the two Khans.



1. Watch
They both endorse two different watch company, Sharukh endorses the world famous "Tag Heuer" where as Aamir endorses "Titan" - which claims to have the thinnest watch in the universe. Advertisement qualitywise Aamir win over Sharukh, whether its edge, raga or titan wedding collection.



2. Car
One says follow the passion and sits in the saddle of Hyundai cars and other takes different avatars of day to day life and drives around Toyota Innova and stress the importance of having innova in day to day life. Here again, instead of following the passion, i passionately vote for Innova advt.



3. Soft poison( i mean Soft Drinks)
This one has series of ads. One endorses Pepsi and other endorsed Coke. In pepsi, King khan has been supported by many actors and actress where as Coke has been entirely done by Aamir. He has taken different regional get up to stress that each and every part of people in india loves this drink, where as Pepsi mostly tries to project as a youth drinks like Youngistan, etc. In this also Aamir ads has much better creative thinking than a youngistan team. Even an alien can't help them.



4. Mobile Phones
Samsung vs. Nokia - For a change, in this shahrukh given importance to the creativity, where the set of scenes passes by it shows from shooting to real life the mobile is been a part of his success. Yet to see the Samsung ads, as mostly we have seen only digital pics and not video shoots. The best irony of this is, Aamir never uses a mobile and Shahrukh never picks up his mobile. If you have reach them the best way is through their drivers or through their respective wives.



5. Biscuits
Sunfeast biscuts - a product of ITC Conglomerate is endorsed by Shahrukh and Monaco - a product of Parle is endorsed by Aamir Khan. Sunfeast ads shows the person goes to bakery in the fantasy and pics up the biscuit which doesn't make any sense apart from the nice Jingle. Monaco - gives a good humor and makes a tough man laugh, it doesn't need tickling, just a heart pouring laugh for a minute and message is passed.



6. first Home Production
Shahrukh khan started Red chillie entertainment and Aamir khan started Aamir khan production. They both concentrated on Independence of india. One film portrays the pre-independence period regarding the abolition of tax in the name of "Lagaan" and the other independence from Corruption, bureaucracy in the name of "Phir Bhi Dil Hain Hindustani".


Honestly, at any time i will watch Lagaan, eventhough it drags for more than 3 hours over PBDHH - how can Aziz Mirza direct such a lousy movie? (The thinking and concept is good, execution is awful. The movie able to run for around week just because of SRK and Juhi Chawla no one else)

Aamir proved exceptionally well in his directorial debut in Taare Zameen Par and i'm waiting for SRKs directorial debut - if at all he directs.....


Whereas, King Khan has explicitly told that he does advertisement for money - so no question asked about how many product he will endorse, but atleast he can think about giving a little bit of quality then a piece of garbage.



For me personally if you ask me Quality or Quantity?
I'm always greedy to ask for Quality with Quantity.
But still if you insist to go for one... Then i will certainly say Quality over Quantity. In this certainly AAMIR scores over SRK.

Aamir screams quality I agree right from his first film QSQT till Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par.But Shahrukh has life and magic.Who can forget Dil se,Baazigar or Hey ram? It is like comparing Shivaji or MGR or Kamal Hassan and Rajini.I love every film of Kamal, but have seen people worship Rajini and enjoyed his films too. Why? Kamal spends crores on a film but it would turn out a big time flop, while his lighter side movies a rip roaring success. There are people who watch films for just entertainment, while others watch for creativity and delivery.Rajini is noted for his sentiment,style and punch dialogues. I enjoy his movies too.. Why to compare? enjoy the difference while you are fluctuating between light and sombre moods. ah..your wagging tail comment reminds me of something else, is it accidental Aamir named his dog Shah Rukh? Don't you think it's spiteful? Does Aamir consider Shahrukh his threat?
